Dr. Ahern is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University. He grew up in the Pacific Northwest and spent his formative years exploring the mountains, which led to work as a mountain guide in the Pacific Northwest and a stint with Yosemite Search and Rescue before medical school. Since completing residency at Highland Hospital in California, he has worked for University of Washington, St. Joseph's and Stanford EM residency programs and remained an avid climber and backcountry skier. He serves as Medical Director for Sun Valley Guides and advisor for Sawtooth Mountain Guides. In his free time, Dr. Ahern enjoys spending time with family, climbing and skiing, reading sci-fi novels, and drinking excellent coffee.
